A Tribute To Great Friends!

Just a little shout out to all our FANTABULOUS friends near & far (not just those pictured here). We are so GRATEFUL for you and don't know what we would ever do without you. You are all there to save our BACON time and again in many ways. Thanks so much! We love you and enjoy our friendships dearly! Please keep in touch! We love hearing from all of you!
This is a pic of the WELLSVILLE GANG (we've grown a little). Mandy, Annie, & Amber (w/Alex, Sam, & Maya)...all back together for a great afternoon of running after the kids. Eek! Quite a bit of mileage separates us now but it is great how things seem just as they always have been when we are together!

Sleeping on your head

Sam is about the craziest sleeper we know. She can never manage to keep under the covers and it's a miracle if her head is even in the same vicinity as her pillow. She is so wild and her snore sounds like an elephant with a head cold! We just can't stop taking pictures of the funny positions we find her in!

Loving the Sewing!

I always kind of despised sewing when I was younger. My mom was the 4-H sewing leader and so I was FORCED to learn the basics. I hated how accurately you had to sew things to get them to turn out right. I sewed a few arm and leg holes shut and unpicked about every seam at least twice. But these days I am LOVING being able to sew! I've sewn a couple dresses for the girls and I am learning how to quilt. It is so rewarding! I'm so ADDICTED TO COLOR and I just love all of the fun fabrics available. I just can't seem to control my impulse to buy fabric in every pattern and color. It is so much fun! I am currently in a little quilting group and we are sewing together a mystery quilt project. We get a few instructions each month as to what to sew. These are my blocks I completed for the 1st month. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Built In Dispose-All

Alex very much enjoying her Graham Crackers!

Alex: our human disposal. She thoroughly enjoys mealtime. She eats twice as much as Sam! It is amazing what that kid can down! She'll eat her own food and beg for yours by flailing her arms like a chicken trying to fly and grunting at us. It is quite a site! (The first picture was taken when we first started feeding Alex rice cereal in November).

Old White Men Can Jump!

Jared can still dunk at 27! Amazing for an old, out of shape accountant! I think he was trying to show off a bit for his Teacher's Quorum. Jury is still out whether he pulled something in the process.

Learning a new trick

It snowed like mad today and we live on this little dirt road that never gets plowed and drifts terribly! Being that I am the tax widow these days and there is no way Jared would make it home in our little civic without me towing him...I'm in charge of trying to dig us out somewhat. So I've learned a new skill...plowing with our 1965 Ferguson tractor. Jared's dad gave it to us last Christmas and it is a handy piece of machinery, but it has a few quirks that take some getting used to! I am far, far, far from being skilled at it, but it is kind of fun to learn something new and be self-sufficient!

Milestones for Alex!

Alex is standing by herself a lot lately...she hasn't taken any steps by herself yet, but she loves to pull herself up to things, let go, and just stand there. She is climbing stairs too...now we just need to get her to learn how to come down!

Getting her 1st tooth! She is about 10 months old. She loves to give us big open mouth, slobbery kisses on the cheek, but now you have to be careful of this sharp little buddy!

Silliness

In a moment of boredom/cabin fever here in snowy Paradise, I took a few pics of funny things the girls were doing today. Sam is such a ham...she really has a gift for entertaining!

These are Sam's 'shifty eyes'...Jared taught her this. She rolls her eyes side to side with them 1/2 closed. She does it whenever she gets embarrassed, meets someone new, is doing something naughty (this one happens alot) or simply on command because we think it is funny.

Sam in her favorite dress-up dress. It is an old, ratty, lacy one that my mom pulled out from when we were little and gave to her (thank you mom ;)....) She got a new one for Christmas but won't touch it. If you notice this one is all frayed around the collar. Just about every day she sneaks into her room after breakfast, strips whatever cute clothes I have put on her for the day, and puts this on...and of course she has to have the pretty shoes to go with it. She loves to clop around on our hardwood floors in them.

I don't generally condone jumping on the bed...ok...every once in a while...but Sam was loving it and I was having fun taking pictures! I love the way her hair stands on end!

Alex has this whole repertoire of funny faces and noises lately. She is such a riot! The last one is the best...she'll give you this squinty little raised eyebrow smile, then blink really slowly and laugh at you.

This was my favorite photo of the day. Alex loves to be nuzzled under her chin...she giggles and giggles. She is at such a fun age!

One small step for mankind, one GIANT leap for the Erickson's

Well...here it is...our first post ever! We've finally pulling our heads out and decided to figure out this blog thing. I love visiting our family and friends' blogs and finally decided that it was time for our own. We are a bit boring, but it is so fun to see how everyone is doing and so I figured we needed to keep all of you updated on the few new happenings with us!
