Sam enjoyed catching some rays in her warm towel the most. She kept informing me that the water was cold (even though I filled the pool with heated water!)

My sister Megan gave Sam 3-D sidewalk chalk for her birthday. Sam is in love with it! Thank heavens she gave us 2 sets-Sam and Alex both LOVE the funky glasses!

Word of the Day

NOSTALGIC Don't know why but it seems to be on the tip of my tongue today and I can't seem to stop using it! For those of you that I've commented on your blog-I apologize-this word has been highly overused! I was doing a little blogging around (stalking-perhaps) tonight while Jared is off scouting and hopped upon a bunch of old high school and student ward friends that I haven't seen in ages. It is so much fun to see how everyone is doing and how kids have grown and what people are into these days. I am amazed at all of you! Oh the wonder of the computer age. We are so blessed that we have such a unique and fast way to keep in touch and support each other in daily life regardless of distance!

Newsflash!

OK...so I went a little crazy updating the blog. There were a bunch of things waiting to be posted and I finally paused to do it (yes-the post really says 1 AM. I am an inherent night owl and my brain just doesn't shut down when there are things to be done!). I just can't help myself! I love photos and they speak volumes for me (too bad I'm not a better photographer). Plus it is about the only way I get anything documented lately. So be warned...there are a lot of new posts. Hope you don't get too lost in them!

The Great Outdoors

We just got back from a little adventure to Arches National Park & Canyonlands. I apologize in advance for the excessive amount of pictures. A couple friends of ours, Adam & Abril, tagged along (a decision I'm sure they are regretting after sleepless nights with our children). Thanks Adam & Abril for putting up with us! We had such an awesome time! It was a pretty perfect trip. We had a great time hiking, relaxing, enjoying great company and of course, camping (if you can really call camping in a trailer camping). Man it was nice to have a CLEAN spot to make dinner, clean children, and sleep warmly. Don't get me wrong-I LOVED tent camping as a kid-and still do love it, but as a mom, a trailer is oh-so-nice! Anyways, here are way too many pics of our travels.

The boys ON TOP of Mesa Arch (it's right on the edge of a large cliff)

One of the Narrows in the Fiery Furnace (Arches). You have to have a special permit to hike in here because people get lost so easily. It was really fun to explore on our own. We packed the kids everywhere in these awesome packs (thanks to loving friends that let us borrow them).

Double O Arch on the Devil's Garden Trail (Abril and I opted out of hiking on the top of that one-there is actually an arch on top of an arch-they are on the very top).

On top of the slick-rock trail of Devil's Garden-there were cliffs on both sides of this part of the trail.

Delicate Arch-awesome hike and great views. I have never been here...it was a little bittersweet but an awesome experience (not to put a damper on things-but this is where my dad died 4 years ago and I was kind of antsy to be in the exact spot where he last was).
