Look at the Size of That Thing!

While taking a walk along the Logan River over the weekend, Sam sustained this beauty!
She tripped over her own feet and took a rock right smack in the middle of her forehead. It swelled up about the size of a ping-pong ball. And, of course, it was the day before we were going to get her pictures taken. It doesn't appear to have phased her much looking at the 1st photo. Good thing kids are resilient!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great weekend camping up Logan Canyon. A bunch of our family and friends came to hang out and enjoy each other's company. The weather was a bit drizzly, but we had a great time!
Alex was hating life in the too-small-snugli...time to invest in a real pack.
Me and handsome little Davis
My sister Megan, hubby Kevin, and cute baby Lucas
the adorable twins-Davis & Blair (Blair looks exactly like our girls at that age!)
A few of us took the old Crimson Trail-one of my favorites in Logan Canyon. It was so green and there was a great breeze for hiking! (Good thing because we came up the Guinavah-Malibu side-big mistake-it is like 50 times steeper than going up the Spring Hollow side so we were dying!)

Ghetto 4-wheeling

We are too poor to buy a real 4-wheeler, so in the meantime, Jared keeps dreaming and jimmy-rigging other motorized items to take its place until the real thing comes to fruition (by the time that happens, we could have 20 years of interesting inventions). Here is his current version of a good atv ride-an old lawnmower with the Radioflier in tow.

Ode to Pipe-cleaners

One of Sam's friends gave her some fun art supplies for her birthday that included a bag of pipe-cleaners. What great, cheap entertainment! It kept her (and all of us) entertained for hours!
This may be a bit long, but it is funny (and super nerdy). Sorry for the weird sounds in the background-I just took it with our digital camera...so it's not great quality.

Sam will probably be mortified in the coming years to see pictures of her with underwear on her
head, but they really do the trick to keep sponge rollers in! I remember my mom doing this every Saturday night with me and my sisters so we'd have pretty, curly hair for church.

A New World Record!

Well...I think we've set some sort of record. Cat #3 is no longer. We had her what, 5 days? We have the worst luck! This one decided it liked to climb up into cars. Jared went to pull out of the garage to go to church on Sunday and I'll spare you the gory details, but the cat is history. We really aren't animal abusers! Sam is already wanting another cat and I just don't know how much more death and destruction I can take around this house!

Rain, Rain Go Away

I shouldn't have said anything about the great weather...it's raining again (and thundering and lightning). Don't get me wrong, I LOVE rainy weather and how it makes everything look so green and fresh, but I am so ready for a little stint of Summer!

Our New Family Addition

Well, we have another new kitten (this is #3 for the year). We haven't had much luck with the last couple. They seem to mysteriously disappear after about 6 months, so I guess we'll see how this one goes. The girls really love playing with her (as she is feverishly shaking in her little skin). Alex hasn't quite got the 'soft' thing down yet, so we are trying to teach her so maybe this cat will stick around a little longer! It will be great to have a mouser again! Eek!

Summer here we come!

We have had a couple days of great sunny, warm weather this week, so in honor of the good weather, we painted toes today. Alex was trying to get in on the action and help with Sam's toes, so we painted Alex's too (her first time). I think she was feeling a little left out because after having hers painted, she didn't bug Sam the rest of the pedicure! Sorry for the poor picture...it's a little difficult getting Alex to hold still!
